From Specifics, From Concrete Evidence, From Things

New Work by Ada Boley, Megan Carney & Rebecca Marino
Opening Saturday, August 27, 7-10 pm
Exhibition through September 10

From Specifics, From Concrete Evidence, From Things features new work from three contemporary Austin-based photographers, Adam Boley, Megan Carney and Rebecca Marino. The work of these artists focuses on understanding the intangible through the microcosms of objects and space at each artist’s disposal.  As a result, personal investments are made and hopeful recognition is placed upon the inanimate subjects of these images.

I’ll Be Your Mirror

VSA Texas Portrait Exhibition
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 6, 7-10 pm
Closing Reception: Saturday, August 20, 7-10 pm

VSA Texas presents I’ll Be Your Mirror. This exhibit of portraits is inspired by the Velvet Underground song of the same name and portrays the psychologically reflective nature of a portrait. Whether it is an abstract, a photograph, an animal, or a person, a portrait is a reflection of the subject, as well as the viewer and the artist. Come see who we are – photographers who are blind, painters who use wheelchairs, artists with mental illness living in institutions, and much more – so we can see who you are!

Visitors will be asked to vote on their favorite pieces. The top winners will be featured in a “Best Of” exhibit at VSA Texas’ Access Gallery in September. Winners will be announced at the Closing Reception.
