East Austin Studio Tour 2007
Saturday & Sunday, November 17-18, 10am-5pm
E.A.S.T. 2007 is the sixth annual arts event that celebrates the visual arts in east Austin. This year, more than 200 artists will be opening their studios throughout the east side for a free two-day self-guided tour. On Saturday and Sunday, 113 studios throughout east Austin will open their doors to the public.
Pump Project Art Complex is truly a must-see flagship venue on the tour. It is a full-time working studio facility with a collective of over 30 artists. Visitors can purchase art, learn more about an artist’s specific tools and techniques, watch a demonstration or simply talk with an artist about his or her recent work.
The theme for this year’s E.A.S.T. is bicycles. Bicycles necessarily slow us down, reducing our field of view from an entire swath of streets to maybe just a few blocks. And they are also environmentally cool – leaving little impact. This year we’re working with the Yellow Bike Project and Metrocycle Pedicabs to make it easier for people from all over Austin to enjoy the tour in an environmentally friendly, low-impact fashion.
