FAM Fest: Film, Art, and Music Festival

The second annual FAM Fest is an event featuring live music, art and photography displays, and cinematic installations – all in a festival atmosphere. Borne from a small group of film-makers, artists, and musicians, the festival was designed to give an opportunity for artists from all styles and genres to showcase and sell their works. That, and they wanted to throw a good party.
To make the whole thing worthwhile, each year proceeds from FAM benefit a different non-profit organization. Last year money was raised for the Sims Foundation, an organization offering low-cost mental health services to the Austin music community. This year’s festival will benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Texas, who “help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships.”
After the success of last year’s event, FAM has returned with twice as many artists, photographers, musicians and video installations. Expanded to two days, FAM 2007 will include a full night of international short films from as far away as Germany and Ireland. The second day will feature an assortment of local Austin bands and DJs. And throughout the weekend an eclectic, talented group of artists will be showcasing and selling works of various media in the gallery. This will be one heck of a show that you won’t want to miss.
