RE:Vision Riot

Encore Reception Saturday, June 23, 7-10pm

re-vision-riotReturn to Pump Project to see how the diverse styles of local and international artists synthesized in Vision Riot. Works from the individual artists will be exhibited along with their outstanding collaborative paintings and drawings created during the event. Performances by Vision Riot musicians My Empty Phantom and It Was Divine Justice will reconstruct the sonic environment in which the art was produced. A documentary film of the event by Pump Project artist David de Lara will not only show the progression of the paintings, but also the audience’s interaction with the artists and artmaking. If you missed or didn’t stay late enough to experience this dynamic art performance on June 2, be sure to join us!

About Vision Riot

Traditional media, new media and sound intertwined in Vision Riot, an atom-smashing art performance of collaborative painting, cadavre exquis, video installations and live music. Large format paintings and drawings were created throughout the evening as visual artists responded to film projections and experimental music improvisations.

The first Vision Riot, a painting event coinciding with slide projections and recorded music was organized in 2005 by Ricardo Acevedo and William Hundley. Pump Project built upon their original concept with the incorporation of video and live music, so that multiple realities shift from moment to moment. In this performance environment, artists shaped the fourth dimension through sound and motion.
